The price of EV’s holding you back?
Here’s 5 reasons why its worth investing in an electric vehicle & ditching the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine).
You may be asking why invest in an electric vehicle now, when clearly driving a petrol/diesel car is more likely to be within your budget? Although electric vehicles (EV) in most cases cost a lot of more, there are benefits that you can reap from driving one in the long run.
Here are 5 standout reasons why you should invest in one:
1. Its cleaner for the environment — Here’s to Fresh Air!
Although it would be better for us to walk to a given destination to reduce the number of vehicles on the road, a better alternative would be driving a sustainable vehicle which can take us to where we want to be with the least amount of harm to the environment. Electric vehicles do not emit harmful substances into the atmosphere such as CO2 and harmful NOx unlike fuel and diesel vehicles. Having this mind, you’ll be driving a vehicle engineered with sustainability in mind.
2. The features and driving experience — Back to the future!
Visualise yourself driving through central London (bear in mind also not being charged congestion fees) and having to not think about where the nearest petrol station is. Most electric vehicles, including all the EV models we have on offer, display information on their dashboards detailing how much charge it has, the location of charging spots and whether it has enough charge based on the location you’re heading to. Additional features include comfort control options, bespoke audio features, rotary gear selectors and smart cruise control functions. Visit our website to find out more information on the electric vehicle leases we have on offer for you.
3. You would be paying significantly less for fuel — Ka-Ching!
As of 2021, the average fuel driver, who drives 6,600 miles a year, spends approximately £1,041.81 on petrol a year. That’s easily £1,041.81 of your money not spend on using fuel and saving the environment. And in comparison for the same distance, an electric fuel will let you save 40–70% of fuel costs. To add to this, electric drivers also save £150 on vehicle tax annually, which amounts to £775 over 5 years depending on the year and model of the vehicle. Check out our 2021 Electric Vehicle Tax & Cost Benefits Brief on example breakdowns of this.
4. Fast charging — If you build it, they will come!
Have a think about this. The fastest growing segment of the public charging infrastructure space in rapid charging points i.e. from 43kW AC on one end of the scale to 100+kW DC ultra rapid charging facilities on the other end that can fully charge your average EV in under 20 minutes. This adds to the over 30,000 EV charging points across the UK, which surprisingly is more than double the number of petrol stations.
5. You won’t be paying for congestion (for now) — Excellent Smithers!
Electric vehicles driving through congestion charged zones are exempt from paying the congestion charge zone fee of £15. An initiative introduced by the Major of London in 2020 in a bid to reduce congestion in London’s Zone 1. With similar low emission zones opening up elsewhere in the UK and other global cities, as well as the expansion of a secondary Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) charge in October 2021, why not reap the benefits of driving an electric vehicle which would not only offers the benefits listed above also be a sustainable investment you make this year.
