If you’d like to live more sustainably but are in need of inspiration, here are Chargebound’s top tips.

Yes, today is Friday 13th but it’s also World Kindness Day! World Kindness Day started in 1998 and aims to make kindness the norm. Here at Chargebound we’ve come up with 5 ways you can be kinder to the planet in the days, weeks and months ahead.

  1. Fight food waste. Did you know food waste accounts for 20% of the UK’s carbon emissions and over 70% of this waste occurs in our homes? A recent Tesco challenge gave some top tips for reducing food waste and found participating households saved an average of £858 a year. Be kind to your bank accounts too!
  2. Pledge to keep the environment in mind when you vote. Policy can have a huge impact on the environment, and letting politicians know our priorities is an important way we can affect change. If you don’t fancy writing an email to your MP, here’s a really simple website which gathers together pledges and takes them to local and national politicians — it really couldn’t be simpler!
  3. Take fewer flights. Coronavirus has reportedly reduced flights by a whopping 97% this year… so it looks like we’ve all been grounded. But knowing that a return flight to New York emits 2 tonnes of carbon emissions, in 2021 why not pledge to take fewer flights or go #flightfree and revel in staycations instead?
  4. Get outside. With more of us working from home and winter settling in, it would be easy to go into hibernation mode. But in these stressful times, it’s important to spend time in the fresh air and feel connected to nature. Note what you love about your local area and what you’d like more or less of. Maybe even plant something in your garden, balcony or window sill or pick up some litter.
  5. Switch to an electric vehicle lease and green energy tariff with Chargebound. Our mission is to eliminate car transport emissions by offering simple, future-proof and cost effective solutions. We believe switching to an electric vehicle lease and using a renewable powered energy tariff are two ways we can all have a huge impact in the fight to save our planet. Read more on our website and make the switch!

Of course, make sure you’re kind to others and yourselves too! If you want more inspiration, check out the Random Acts of Kindness website: https://www.randomactsofkindness.org/kindness-ideas.
